Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces Italian hoagie rolls Feel free to experiment with different types of bread.
  • 4 oz sliced salami
  • 4 oz sliced ham
  • 4 oz sliced pepperoni
  • 4 oz sliced provolone cheese Consider high-quality cheese for better flavor.
  • 4 oz sliced mozzarella cheese Consider high-quality cheese for better flavor.
Seasonings
  • 2 tbsp olive oil For drizzling and brushing.
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes Adjust to taste for spiciness.
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the Italian hoagie rolls in half and place them cut side up on a baking sheet.
  3. Drizzle olive oil on the inside of each roll.
  4. Layer the deli meats onto the rolls in the following order: salami, ham, and pepperoni.
  5. Add generous layers of provolone and mozzarella cheese on top of the meats.
  6. Sprinkle Italian seasoning, garlic powder, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper evenly over the cheese.
  7. Close the sandwiches and brush the tops with a little more olive oil.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the bread is golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days and reheat well in the oven. For added flavor, consider serving with marinara sauce for dipping.
